Burt: Hey everyone, I’m Burt from ViewSonic, and I’m here to answer your questions about your displays. Today’s question is about monitor drivers: How do I install monitor drivers?

Burt: Even if Windows installs a generic monitor driver automatically, it might not unlock your display’s full potential. Burt: So, let’s take matters into our own hands. Here’s how to manually install your ViewSonic monitor drivers—step by step. [Disclaimer]: Note: These steps only apply to Windows 10 and 11.

Super: Step 1: Download From ViewSonic.com Burt: Go to the ViewSonic website. Search for your model, then download the driver folder and extract the files. Double click the exe file and after the installation completes, restart your computer.

Burt: And that’s it! You’ve just manually installed your ViewSonic monitor drivers!

Super: Working ≠ Performing Burt: Doesn’t Windows automatically recognize your monitor? Well, yes, Windows does read a small chip built into your monitor called EDID—that’s Extended Display Identification Data. It uses that information to recognize your display and apply a basic Plug-and-Play configuration to get it working. But "working" isn’t the same as "performing." Here is exactly what you gain when you install the right driver:

Super: Full Refresh Rate Support Burt: Manufacturer-specific drivers unlock exact refresh rates and resolutions that generic drivers might miss.

Super: Accurate Color Calibration Burt: They include a ICM file for accurate color profiles and calibration.

Super: HDR and Advanced Features Burt: They enable high-end tech like HDR, specialized gaming modes, and access to ViewSonic manufacturer-specific software.
